West sponsors organisations with which it has an affinity, in both a technical and non-technical sense. West's interests extend much further than merely technology. Sponsorship entails making available hosting facilities, including technical management services (the creation of Wiki's, mailing lists, backups, etc.). West also offers its own content management system (CMS) "Man-a-Site" free of charge, so that these sites can be managed easily.
In the autumn of 1989, Jan van Cleeff approached a number of professional players and journalists with the request to think about a new bridge magazine. Van Cleeff felt that there was a strong need for a magazine that focused only on bridge as a competitive sport. This soon resulted in the start of Bridge Magazine IMP, an independent magazine for experienced players.
